ACCESS STATEMENT
ACCESS STATEMENT - NATIONAL TRUST BODNANT GARDEN
(Revised October 2009)

We aim to ensure that all our visitors have comfortable facilities in a safe and healthy environment wherever reasonably practicable, and visitors are made to feel welcome throughout their stay.

PARKING / ACCESS TO GARDEN
• Designated parking areas provided for visitors with disabilities
• Access to the Garden from the car park is via a ramp and underpass; benches, handrail and lighting are provided along the ramp route.

THE GARDEN
• Visitors are advised to wear appropriate outdoor footwear.
• Children must be property supervised at all times. There are many water features within the Garden and visitors should take care around them.
• Consists of both flat and sloped areas, some of which are steep in places with numerous steps.
• There are way-marked routes for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
• There are regular rest points (benches) around the Garden.
• Gravelled, grassed and historically stepped pathways lead to lower levels of the Garden. Some pathways may have exposed tree roots. Only a few steps have handrails.
• Exit from the Garden for wheelchairs and pushchairs is via an electronic gate adjacent to Visitor Reception.

TOILETS
• Gents, Ladies and Accessible toilets location in the car park up stepped or an alternative sloped access. Baby changing facilities are also available.
• An additional Accessible toilet is available from a flat access at the exterior north gable end of the Pavilion Tea-room.
• Gents, Ladies, Accessible and baby changing facilities are provided at the lower level of the Garden next to The Old Mill.

PAVILION TEA-ROOM
• Stepped access to the front of the Tea-room.
• Ramped access leads into the Tea-room from the car park area for wheelchair and pushchair access.

SERVICES / FACILITIES
• A limited number of wheelchairs are available in the car park for visitor use. These are available free and cannot be booked in advance.
• The guide book is available at cost from Visitor Reception and is also available in Braille.
• A map of the Garden is available suggesting a route avoiding steps and steep gradients.
• National Trust staff and volunteers are available to answer general questions.

OTHER INFORMATION
• Dogs are not allowed (unless assistance dogs) in the Garden but can be walked on a lead in the car park.
• There are no public telephones within the Garden and mobile telephone coverage is poor for some networks.
