| What´s in Flower This Week (dated 23.8.10) |
We have lots of plants of interest in the Garden this week. In the Shrub Borders are the beautiful delicate flowers of the hardy Cyclamen hederifolium. More Cyclamen can be found peeping sneakily through the grass in Chapel Park. The Hydrangeas have been in flower for weeks, and still looking gorgeous are the white cones of Hydrangea paniculata ‘Grandiflora’. But by far the most striking is Hydrangea macrophylla ´Renate steiniger Blue´, you will not find a brighter blue anywhere in the Garden.
There are some wonderful fat hips ripening on the arching stems of Rosa glauca and Rosa moyesii ´Geranium´, found in the Shrub Borders and on the underpass bed.
In the Dell, look down on the ground for the unusual Cornus Canadensis (Creeping Dogwood), with simple white flowers, as well as the arching flowering stems of Gentiana asclepiadea bearing blue trumpets. |
